WHY THE KEYS

Rachael’s paternal grandparents, Kay and Jack Hoppock, lived in Chicago in the 70’s when they bought their condo at The Cay. It’s been in the Hoppock family ever since and at least every year Rachael and her Dad have made the trek. Ian joined for the first time only a few months into dating and during the two weeks we spent there we fell even more in love. Ian says that it was during our time in the Keys that he knew Rachael was the one. Rachael says that it was while they were at Hemingway House in Key West dancing on the porch that she knew that he was the one. Both say that during their 6 hour flight home when they had an entire exit row to themselves and couldn’t stop talking even after a 2 week vacation that that’s when they knew. Exactly a year later, on November 29th 2023- Ian proposed at Hemingway House on Ernest’s bedroom balcony, while dancing.

We are forever grateful to Kay and Jack for creating a home away from home. And for John for keeping this property in the family and hosting the weekend. It’s so special that we get to get married in a place that means so much to us. And especially to Rachael and her family, who once upon a time watched her take her first steps on this very beach. Kay was an artist and you might stay in a condo with some of her art, but you can also check her work out at the Pentagon too if you’re ever interested ;) Together, Kay and Jack valued family, fun, creativity, good conversation, and sunsets- and we are continuously inspired by their love and life.
